Steps

Terry’s Quality Concrete receives dozens and dozens of calls every year from people with steps. Sinking, cracked, scaling, or just flat out disintegrating are common problems with steps.

Help me with my steps PLEASE!

Steps are a very heavy piece of concrete placed next to the house in the backfill area of soil that was at some point excavated and then replaced during the construction of the house.  For this reason steps tend to sink readily and many concrete contractors don’t take proper preventive measures to resist this problem when they replace them.  At Terry’s Quality Concrete we place post footings dug to frost depth to support the added weight of your steps to insure they will stay where they are intended for many years to come.

Why are my steps eroding away?

This tends to be because people use a lot of salt in the winter months to melt the ice.  Salt and brine are very harmful to concrete and once the top layer of concrete is permeated by the salt it will continue to eat away at the concrete underneath.  At Terry’s Quality Concrete we encourage homeowners to seal their concrete yearly to prevent the harmful salt and brine from disintegrating your new concrete.  Our concrete experts can give you the proper knowledge you need to properly maintain your concrete.

Difficulties finding contractors who can do steps?

Placing and replacing steps requires more attention and skill than other concrete tasks and are not an “In and Out” project so to speak.  For this reason contractors tend to shy away from them.  Steps can occasionally press the limits of some contractors so they become uncomfortable and set an appointment and then never show.  Terry’s Quality Concrete promises to show up every time and offer a solution. Steps, like any other concrete structure, have limitless opportunities of shape and size so curved or any other design can be achieved by a motivated contractor like Terry’s Quality Concrete. We want you to be happy and are willing to take the time to help you understand all of the options for your new steps.
