Patios

Patios are one of the most highly requested projects we work on, that aren’t driveways. Our team’s extensive knowledge and experience set us apart from our competitors. Let’s build your dream entertainment area today.

Homeowners

People spend a lot of time on their patio entertaining and enjoying peaceful time out side with their families.  Patios placed when the house is built are rarely placed with the eventual homeowner’s input and are not suitable to what the new homeowner wants.  For this reason most general contractors pour small patios to help keep the overall cost of the home down and make it easier to sell.  As we know people want areas that are big enough to fit the grill,  furniture, and often times fire pits and still need room to move around without stepping off of the concrete.

Failures Happen

Terry’s Quality Concrete is  often called to consult on some form of failure of many existing patios.  Since patios are rarely needed to support the weight of vehicles, many contractors do not pay much attention to steps needed to prevent settling, cracking, and heaving of the structure.  Since patios are often placed next to the house where settlement is most common due to the loose backfill area of the house, Terry’s Quality Concrete always places post footings dug down to frost depth under the patio close to the house. Terry’s Quality Concrete also reinforces patios with rebar and strongly suggests pouring patios at a 5” depth for added longevity.

Water in Basement

Another common reason Terry’s Quality Concrete is called is because the failure of a homeowner’s patio has settled and is now sloping towards the house. This now causes their basement to get wet. Replacing your patio will definitely be a step in keeping your basement dry but further solutions may at this point be required to keep a dry basement. Terry’s Quality Concrete also does Basement Waterproofing and can help you if you find yourself in this type of situation.
