Cheap Driveway Contractor

Driveway and concrete contractors that have much lower prices undoubtedly are cutting corners to keep their prices low. We recently did some work for a customer who needed her Driveway failure picture taken at Judy Shaw's house.driveway replaced. Her driveway had failed and fallen 12 inches next to the garage making it nearly impossible to enter the Driveway placed at 2.5 inches thickgarage without scraping the bottom of the car. ( See the Photo with the bumper of the car nearly hitting the garage floor!)  After consulting with the homeowner and agreeing on a price we got started. It didn’t take long to realize what had caused the problem. The concrete was poured at a depth of 2.5 inches and on top of a layer of sand. A high quality contractor would not place a driveway any less than 4 inches thick. A concrete contractor you can trust will also make sure the sub-base material is of a larger aggregate and complacted. This is a problem we see VERY OFTEN. People tend to gravitate to the lowest price. Does it logically make sense that one contractor can pour a driveway at 10, 20 or even 40 percent less than another? NO! If a contractor is bidding driveways at such low prices some or all of the following are probably true:

1.     He is starving for work because his reputation is not strong enough to keep him busy.

2.     He is using untrained help with little to no experience and surely no certifications.

3.     He is not bonded, insured, and registered with the state.

4.     He is probably paying his help in cash illegally.

5.     He is probably cutting corners on concrete and/or his base material.

6.     He will not warrantee his work.

If you go with the lowest bidder when hiring your driveway contractor, you can also expect to get the lowest quality too.
